A new book tracing the contested development of economic and social rights in Ireland will be launched in Dublin on Monday.

Contesting Economic and Social Rights in Ireland, written by UCD lecturer Dr Thomas Murray, studies questions of rights and redistribution from the perspective of analysing power in society.

Dr Murray draws on new archival, case law and statistical research to reconstruct socio-economic rights discourses from across Irish society, to demonstrate the tension between state and civil society discourses, and to trace an untold history of their contested development over time.

The book will be launched on Monday 24 October, 6pm in Boston College Ireland with guest speakers including Professor Gerard Whyte, professor of law at Trinity College Dublin.

RSVP to the launch by emailing thomas.murray@ucdconnect.ie.
