Cabinet ‘will benefit’ from Josepha Madigan’s mediation experience
The Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (MII) has said the Cabinet will benefit from newly-appointed minister Josepha Madigan’s extensive experience of mediation.
Ms Madigan, a long-time family law solicitor and MII certified mediator who became a TD for the first time last year, has been appointed Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
Sabine Walsh, president of the MII, said the Cabinet would “benefit from her extensive knowledge and experience of mediation”.
She added: “Through her work as a solicitor and as former Specialist Liaison Officer for Family Mediation in the MII, Josepha has made a major contribution to advancing the cause of mediation.
“Josepha’s election in 2016 to the 32nd Dáil helped to expedite passage of the Mediation Bill through the Oireachtas and the commencement order is expected early in the New Year.
“We are delighted that as member of the cabinet, Josepha will be able to employ her extensive mediation skills for the benefit of the country at the highest political level.”
