Carson McDowell has acted as lead legal advisors for shareholders of one of Northern Ireland’s largest housebuilding groups in agreeing the sale of most of the business.

Breedon, the UK’s largest independent construction materials group, has acquired Whitemountain, Lagan Cement, Lagan Brick and Welsh Slate from Lagan Group. The sale does not include Lagan Homes.

The combination of Breedon and Lagan’s materials interests will create a workforce of circa 3,000 and turnover of more than £900 million.

Following the disposal of the materials business, Mr Lagan and his family intend to pursue a managed growth strategy with the Lagan Homes and FastHouse businesses, which are being retained.
