Carson McDowell secures apology for Ulster Carpets in dispute with rival company
Belfast-based Carson McDowell has secured an apology for its client Ulster Carpets following a dispute with Hotel Logistics Limited.
The dispute arose after Ulster Carpets was made aware of a number of posts appearing on the LinkedIn page of a senior officer of Hotel Logistics Limited. Each of the posts included an image of a carpet and suggested that the carpet was designed and manufactured by Hotel Logistics.
In fact, the images were of carpets designed and manufactured by Ulster Carpets, as part of its world-renowned business supplying high-quality luxury carpets to a variety of five-star hotels and cruise ships globally.
Following appropriate pre-action correspondence, Hotel Logistics agreed to publish an apology on the LinkedIn page, as well as discharging Ulster Carpets’ legal costs and making a substantial charitable donation to the John Wilson Memorial Trust.
Fergal McGoldrick, senior associate in Carson McDowell’s media, communications and reputation team, acted for Ulster Carpets in the dispute.
Judith Cuddy, director at Ulster Carpets, said: “We are pleased that this unfortunate issue has been concluded to our satisfaction, and that a local charity will significantly benefit as a result.”
