NI: Claire Sugden visits Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust
Northern Ireland’s Justice Minister Claire Sugden acknowledged the vital role of the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust (PRRT) in providing services to serving and retired police officers and their families during a visit to their premises.
Ms Sugden met members of the PRRT board and staff to hear about the support they provide.
PRRT offers a range of clinical and support services to police officers and to the wider justice sector, including prison officers; staff from NI Court Service; the Office of the Police Ombudsman; the Forensic Science NI; the Youth Justice Agency; and members of the judiciary.
The services include helping retiring and retired officer prepare for their future and make a successful transition from policing to civilian life. Crucially, they also provide a range of mental and physical health support services including physiotherapy and psychotherapy.
Ms Sugden said: “The services provided by PRRT make a real difference in the lives of their clients and, crucially, help improve both their mental and physical health and well-being.
“I very much appreciate the personal commitment and contribution of the PRRT Board and staff in this vital work.”
