International law firm Clark Hill has appointed Conor Linehan SC as member and head of its environmental and natural resources team in Dublin.

Mr Linehan brings more than 25 years’ experience in environmental law to Clark Hill.

He works with a wide range of public and private sector clients to provide environmental due diligence during mergers and acquisitions, support in environmental litigation, and regulatory counsel.

His arrival enhances the firm’s offering in infrastructural areas like maritime, aviation, light rail and telecommunications, data storage and offshore energy.

Mr Linehan said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for me as Clark Hill’s presence in Ireland has proven to be a true integration of its American and Irish teams.

“With the firm’s transatlantic team growing, I look forward to working with many American colleagues and servicing clients’ environmental needs.”

Mr Linehan also advises on contaminated land issues and industrial emissions licensing. His practice includes environmental finance and insurance underwriting for environmental risk and liability. He has also provided counsel on climate change issues.

Patrick Larkin, a member of Clark Hill’s environmental and natural resources group, said: “We’re thrilled to add Conor to our environmental team in Dublin.

“He’s been a leader in this space for many years and will be a tremendous asset to our clients investing in Ireland and an important addition to our US team providing counsel on compliance by US companies with EU environmental and related obligations.”

Kirby Tarrant, member in charge of Clark Hill Dublin, said: “We are excited about Conor’s role in our Dublin office which is hugely important to our expanding activities in this area and will be most welcomed by our clients and colleagues.”

Mr Linehan has previously served as senior vice-chair of the International Bar Association’s environment, health, and safety law committee and vice-chair of the IBA president’s task force on climate change justice and human rights.

He was also an Irish government appointee to the international panel of environmental law expert arbitrators at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague.

Mr Linehan was appointed as a senior counsel in 2021, the second year that solicitors were eligible to take up the title.
