Commercial law firm Cleaver Fulton Rankin has become one of the latest signatories to Northern Ireland’s Mental Health Charter.

The Mental Health Charter was produced by the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland alongside charities Action Mental Health, Disability Action, Mindwise, Mental Health Foundation and Niamh in order to provide a framework for working towards mentally healthy workplaces.

Signatories to the Charter pledge to integrate five Charter commitments into their workplace and promote good mental health within their organisation to benefit their employees, their business operations and the wider community.

Cleaver Fulton Rankin’s associate director Stuart Nevin and HR assistant Joanne Graham last year underwent training to become workplace mental health champions to provide support and guidance to colleagues in need of mental health first aid.

The training was facilitated by NI Chest Heart & Stroke following the firm’s enrolment on the Work Well Live Well programme in 2023.

HR manager Rebecca Russell said: “At Cleaver Fulton Rankin, our employees’ mental health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us and we are committed to breaking down the stigma of mental health in the workplace.

“Our signing of the Charter ties in with our wider health and wellbeing action plan and follows the publication of our sixth annual responsible business report.

“We would encourage all organisations in Northern Ireland to consider signing the Mental Health Charter which is a vital first step towards developing a mentally healthy workplace.”
