Co Wexford solicitor avoids striking-off order after promising not to practise

Co Wexford solicitor Anthony F. O’Gorman has given undertakings to the High Court not to practise as a solicitor.

Mr O’Gorman, who has wound down his practice in Gorey, yesterday avoided being struck off the roll of solicitors, The Irish Times reports.

The Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) previously made nine findings of professional misconduct against Mr O’Gorman.

He has already paid back more than €300,000 which was missing from his firm’s client account and will pay a further €31,000 in legal costs.

Mr O’Gorman, who practised as a solicitor for nearly four decades, was a victim of the economic collapse in 2008, Mr Justice Peter Kelly said.
