Competition watchdog to investigate proposed newspaper acquisition

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is to carry out a full investigation into the proposed acquisition of Donegal’s Inishowen Independent newspaper.
Formpress Publishing, the owner and operator of a number of local and regional newspaper titles across Ireland, is proposing to purchase D&D Media, owners of the Inishowen Independent and its website.
The proposed transaction was notified to the CCPC in April 2024.
The CCPC invites submissions from interested parties by email to mergers@ccpc.ie by 4.30pm on 28 August 2024.
