Cork barristers hand €7,500 to cancer charities after fundraising coffee morning
Cork barristers presented €7,500 to two cancer charities after a fundraising coffee morning in memory of their late colleague, Jane Anne Rothwell BL.
Ms Rothwell passed away last October after a short illness.
The coffee morning, organised by Joanna Ralston BL, took place at Cork Courthouse as part of Daffodil Day earlier in the year.
The Irish Cancer Society and the Cork-based project Breakthrough Cancer Research were formally presented with the two €3,750 cheques yesterday.
Nicola McMahon, Munster community fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society, and Eoghan O’Sullivan, campaigns manager for Breakthrough Cancer Research, accepted the donations on the charities’ behalf.
The cheque presentation was also attended by Mary Crowley, office manager of Cork Court Office; Judge Mary Dorgan; and county registrar Deirdre O’Mahony. Present on behalf of the Cork Bar were Ms Ralston and treasurer Deirdre O’Callaghan.
