Cork courthouse recognised at building and design awards
Cork’s new €35 million courthouse has been recognised at the Irish Building and Design Awards.
The “Public Building Project of the Year” accolade was collected at the Dublin awards ceremony by representatives of BAM Building Ltd, Wilson Architecture and Bluett & O’Donoghue Architects.
The refurbished and extended courthouse on Anglesea Street in Cork sits on the site of the Old Model Primary School, open from 1865-1990 and first transformed into a courthouse in 1995.
Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan and the Chief Justice of Ireland, Mr Justice Frank Clarke, officially opened the building at a ceremony last May.
