Courts making own arrangements to avoid repossession hearing protests
The Courts Service of Ireland has said courts will be making their own arrangements to ensure repossession cases can proceed in spite of protests, The Irish Times reports.
Limerick Circuit Court revealed it has stopped publishing the dates on which home repossession hearings will be heard in order to limit the impact of anti-eviction protests.
A spokesperson for the Courts Service said each court office is making arrangements “to best list those cases to the benefit of those involved”.
Ken Murphy, director of the Law Society of Ireland, said the changes would not negatively affect the work of solicitors.
Mr Murphy told The Irish Times: “Not publishing them widely or publicly doesn’t necessarily disrupt the work of the court, but may be a measure, if deemed necessary, that could help reduce, if not prevent, these, at times, outrageous courtroom disruptions.”
