Cyber security legislation to be updated
The general scheme of the National Cyber Security Bill 2024 has been published.
The bill is the legislative vehicle for the transposition of the Network and Information Security Directive EU 2022/2555, also known as the NIS2 Directive.
It also provides for the establishment of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on a statutory basis and for related matters including clarity around its mandate and role in general.
Introduced in 2023, the NIS2 Directive is the EU-wide legislation on cybersecurity. It provides legal measures to boost the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU.
