Cycle route for 19th Calcutta Run announced
2017 sees the 19th year of the Law Society of Ireland’s Calcutta Run – the legal fundraiser, which consists of a 5km or 10km run/walk taking place on Saturday, 20 May 2017 in the Phoenix Park. In 2016, some 1,200 runners took part and the event raised €180,000, the beneficiaries of which were the homeless street children of Calcutta and homeless youths of Dublin through the Peter McVerry Trust. This year sees the addition of the Calcutta Cycle Sportive, a non-competitive 80km cycling sportive which will take place on the same day.
The Calcutta Cycle Sportive is organised by the Calcutta Cycle Committee in association with VC Beechwood (a cycling club affiliated with Cycling Ireland) on behalf of the Law Society of Ireland and is authorised by Cycling Ireland.
The homeless in Dublin and Calcutta need your help to hit this year’s fundraising target of €200,000. Registration for the cycle costs €50 payable online, and we request that an additional €50 or more be raised by participants and brought on the day of the event. You can read further details about the cycle on the FAQ page.
