NI: Dalriada School pupils prepare to compete in UK mock trial finals
Pupils at Dalriada School in Ballymoney will go on to compete in the Bar Mock Trial National Finals in London after taking first place during the regional finals in Belfast.
The Northern Ireland pupils will compete with teams made up of 15-18 year olds from seventeen other schools across the UK.
They will take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, court staff and jurors, with their performances judged by real judges and senior barristers.
This year’s national final takes place in the Old Bailey on 23 April 2016.
Lynn McMullan BL, a former pupil of Dalriada, is the mentor for the school alongside Craig Dunford BL.
Ms McMullan said: “I have loved every minute so far of working with my former school and it’s wonderful to see them reach the national finals in the Old Bailey in London.
“I want to congratulate the students and their teacher, Susan Gregg, on their hard work, determination and skill to have won in Belfast and then gone to do so well nationally. This entire process has been a wonderful experience for me but we still have a lot of practice to do to get ready for the National Finals on the 23rd April.”
