Dara Calleary to address Ireland for Law event in Frankfurt
Junior minister Dara Calleary will speak in Frankfurt next month at an Ireland for Law event promoting Ireland as a European regulatory centre of excellence.
Mr Calleary, the minister of state for trade promotion, digital and company regulation, will speak at the event on Tuesday 7 May, which remains open to Irish lawyers for attend.
Euronext’s Maurizio Pastore, Matheson’s Niamh Mulholland and Paul McGarry SC will also participate in a discussion moderated by Bar of Ireland chair Sara Phelan SC.
Mr McGarrey said the event will showcase the expertise that exists in Ireland and why companies should use Irish law for business contracts, advice and transactions and use Irish dispute resolution for business disputes, and is timely given the recent publication of the Companies Bill 2024.
“Minister Calleary has just published the general scheme of this important piece of legislation, and as he has stated, it will ensure that Ireland’s Companies Act remains fit-for-purpose and provides a modern and responsive business regulatory environment that reflects international best practice,” Mr McGarry said.
Funded by the Bar of Ireland, the Law Society and the Department of Justice, Ireland for Law promotes Irish law and Irish legal services to the international business community, particularly for commercial sectors where Ireland is already a world leader, including aviation finance, funds, insurance, tech, pharma and life sciences.
Launched in 2019, Ireland for Law is among several initiatives that form part of Ireland’s response to Brexit.
