NI: David Haggan
David Haggan, former Assistant Chief Crown Solicitor for Northern Ireland, has passed away at 91, the Belfast Telegraph reports.
Mr Haggan, originally from south Belfast, died in Surrey following a distinguished legal career.
He became Crown Solicitor for Belfast in the 1960s and then Assistant Chief Crown Solicitor for Northern Ireland. He was later called to the Bar of England and Wales and became legal secretary to the Law Officers, advising two Attorney Generals and three Solicitor Generals on Northern Ireland affairs, travelling between London and Belfast.
In later life, he was ordained as a non-stipendiary Anglican minister and took on a number of short-term chaplaincies across Europe.
He is survived by his wife Hope, his daughter, son and grandson.
