Dermot Ahern receives €110,000 yearly pension

Former Justice Minister Dermot Ahern receives a total state pension of around €110,000 a year, the Irish Independent reports.

New figures from the Department of Finance show Mr Ahern received €56,669 in 2015 for his fourteen years on the Cabinet.

Pension payments to 122 ex-ministers totalled €3.8 million last year, averaging just over €31,000.

Mr Ahern receives a standard TD’s pension of around €53,000 per year in addition to his ex-minister’s pension.

Mr Ahern had last year told an RTÉ radio presenter that he was “not exactly sure” what the value of his pension is, but complained of a “very substantial” reduction.
