NI: District judge addresses Law Society event on human rights and children
Over 60 members of the legal, community, voluntary and public sectors have attended a key event in Belfast on children and human rights.
The “Human Rights and Children in the Justice System in Northern Ireland: Where we are” event took place at Law Society House.
Attendees heard from Jago Russell, chief executive of Fair Trials; District Judge Peter King; and Eileen Ewing, president of the Law Society of Northern Ireland on human rights and children in the justice system issues locally and internationally.
Commenting on the event, Ms Ewing said: “The Law Society is delighted to host this important event exploring current issues in relation to children in the justice system in Northern Ireland, drawing together a range of experienced and knowledgeable speakers.
“We are grateful to Jago Russell, chief executive of Fair Trials and to District Judge Peter King for providing their views on this area of law.”
