NI: Dopes fined
A party that wants to legalise cannabis in Northern Ireland has been struck off the register of political parties and fined £23,000 for forgetting to file accounts on time.
Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol is registered separately in Northern Ireland and Britain but it has failed to meet the requirements of the Electoral Commission which has now taken action.
The party was fined for not delivering donations reports and its spending return for the Assembly election last May, the late delivery of a loans report, a statement of accounts and a failure to maintain adequate accounting records.
It has since changed its name in Northern Ireland to Citizens Independent Social Thought Alliance (Cista).
The party was also removed from the register of political parties on November 3, 2016 after it failed complete its required annual registration confirmation.
