Dr Muiris Ó Céidigh joins Community Finance Ireland board
Dr Muiris Ó Céidigh, solicitor and notary public, has joined the board of Community Finance Ireland (CFI).
The charity, which is based in Belfast and operates across the island of Ireland, delivers social finance solutions that support local communities and drive social impact through sports, community projects, faith-based groups, and social enterprises.
Last month, Northern Ireland’s Department for Communities announced a new £13 million social capital loan scheme which will be managed by CFI. More than £4 million has already been released and three projects totalling £576,000 have been approved by CFI.
Dr Ó Céidigh is an expert in corporate governance, holding a doctorate in governance from Queen’s University Belfast and recently being awarded a Master’s in law with a distinction from Leeds Beckett University, where he won the best overall performance award.
He is a governor of Belfast Metropolitan College, a member of the Property Services Regulatory Authority, CEO of the regulatory National Milk Agency and a board member of the Irish Architectural Archive. He is also a director and former chair of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties.
Recently, Dr Ó Céidigh also gained a Master’s degree in forensic medicine from the University of Verona. He is a professional member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.
