Dublin firm analyses election manifesto impact on employment law
Dublin law firm Mason Hayes & Curran (MHC) has published analysis of the impact on employment law of the main Irish political parties’ proposals.
The firm compared the manifestos of Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, Labour and Sinn Féin in order to establish how their proposed policies would affect businesses.
On its website, the firm said there was “some consistency in relation to employment law topics”, with each party proposing an increase in the national minimum wage.
All had put forward proposals on pensions and maternity benefit.
However, it also highlighted Sinn Féin’s proposals to amend industrial relations legislation to provide for mandatory trade union recognition and collective bargaining rights.
It added: “While we appear to be heading towards another coalition government, there is no doubt that middle ground will eventually have to be found on all these topics when deciding on future government policy.”
The firm’s full analysis of the party manifestos is available here.
