Dublin solicitor denies bringing cocaine into prison
Dublin solicitor Aonghus McCarthy has appeared in court accused of bringing cocaine into Mountjoy Prison for an inmate, The Irish Times reports.
Mr McCarthy, represented by solicitor Michael Hanahoe, appeared before Judge Anthony Halpin in Dublin District Court last week - directly across the road from his practice.
Mr McCarthy, 32, denies committing an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 by bringing a controlled drug into Mountjoy Prison.
Gardaí say they found around €25 of cocaine in a plastic bag in Mr McCarthy’s wallet while he was going through a search area.
The case has been listed for consideration this Friday.
