NI: Elliott Duffy Garrett partner to run London Marathon
A partner at Elliott Duffy Garrett Solicitors in Belfast is running the London Marathon to raise cash for the Cancer Fund for Children.
Kevin McVeigh, who is also a Board member of the Cancer Fund for Children, has already raised £220 of his £2,000 target on JustGiving.
Mr McVeigh said: “I am a husband and father of four children. We have been fortunate not to experience childhood cancer in our family but other families have not been so lucky.
“Since joining the Charity in 2014 I have seen first-hand the amazing work done to support children, teenagers and young adults, and their families, living with cancer.
“This is particularly true at Daisy Lodge, the charity’s therapeutic short-break centre near Newcastle where families can go to relax, far away from the pressures of gruelling cancer treatment and hospital visits.
“As a charity, Cancer Fund for Children receives less than 0.5 per cent of its income from government funding and so relies on public donations – this is why I decided to do my bit to raise money by running the London Marathon in 2018.”
