Kennedys associate Emma Falloon has been elected as chair of the Northern Ireland Young Solicitors’ Association (NIYSA).

William Wilson, a property lawyer with Lacey Solicitors, will support Ms Falloon as vice-chair for the 2025 term following the association’s recent AGM.

The other committee members are Katherine Macauley as secretary, Shannan Greer as treasurer, Emma Doherty as CPD co-ordinator, Aisling Creegan as membership secretary, Victoria Kinkaid as social media manager, Tony McCann as membership engagement officer, Morgan Giovanna Pennie as trainee rep and Sarah Swann as LawCare representative.

Commenting on her election, Ms Falloon told Irish Legal News: “I am honoured to have been elected as chair of the Northern Ireland Young Solicitors’ Association for the coming year.

“I look forward to working with the newly elected committee and would like to thank the outgoing members, Shannon Gawley, Ross White and Katherine Grant for their hard work and dedication over the past number of years.

“I would also like to sincerely thank the Law Society of Northern Ireland for their longstanding and extremely helpful support of the NIYSA.”

She continued: “Last year we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the NIYSA and I hope to build on the great work of the association to date whilst recognising the changes and challenges faced by the legal profession and young solicitors.

“Looking forward to the year ahead, I am committed to strengthening engagement with our members throughout Northern Ireland and across the local associations.

“I also hope to continue to build long lasting networks with our counterparts in the UK, Ireland and our colleagues across Europe and further afield.

“Finally I am delighted that the NIYSA will continue to nominate a LawCare representative and work closely with this very important mental health charity.”
