Employment tribunal claims rose sharply after Supreme Court ruling
Employment tribunal claims increased sharply in the months following the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that the fees were unlawful, it has emerged.
Sir Brendan Barber, Acas chairman, said that demand for its conciliation service increased by 20 per cent in the wake of the ruling last July.
In addition there was a 60 per cent rise in tribunal claims as compared with the same period in the previous year.
Sir Brendan said the ruling was a “significant outcome” for those who argued against tribunal fees.
