Ex-barrister wins €7.1m settlement after brain injury

A former barrister who suffered a brain injury after routine surgery has won a €7.1 million settlement in the High Court. Frank Cowan, who practised as a barrister until 2008, failed to initially regain consciousness after being given anaesthetic for a routine back procedure and successfully sued anaesthetist Deirdre Lohan.
