Exhibition explores connection between Bar and Easter Rising
A new exhibition in the Four Courts explores the connection between The Bar of Ireland and the Easter Rising of 1916.
The Bullets, Books & Barricades exhibition, a collaboration between The Bar and the Courts Centenary Commemoration Committee, was launched in the Round Hall.
The launch was opened by Chief Justice Susan Denham and David Barniville SC, chairman of The Bar Council of Ireland, gave an overview of the many varied connections of the Bar with 1916.
Descendants and guests gathered to hear and read the story and legacy of the Four Courts garrison, compiled by staff of the Law Library, and were treated to music from the Courts Service Choir and the Piccolo Lasso Children’s Choir.
Historian Paul O’Brien also provided a fascinating insight into the events of 1916 in the Fours Courts and surrounding areas.
The exhibition remains open to the public until 20 May 2016, excluding weekends and public holidays, between 10am-4pm.
It will subsequently be moved to the Distillery Building.
