Fiona Gallagher elected president of Sligo Solicitors Bar Association
Fiona Gallagher, partner at Rochford Gallagher & Company LLP, has been elected as president of the Sligo Solicitors Bar Association.
She is joined on the new committee by John Anderson of McGovern Walsh & Co Solicitors LLP as secretary, Caroline McLaughlin of Callan Tansey Solicitors LLP as PRO, and Noel Kelly of Kelly & Ryan LLP as treasurer, as well as committee members Michele O’Boyle, Maurice Galvin and Michael Monahan.
Mr Monahan, the outgoing president, welcomed members to the association’s recent AGM, which heard updates on legal developments, CPD events and other notable events over the past year.
The AGM also heard of the association’s “pride” in the appointments of Judge Eiteain Cunningham and Judge Ciaran Liddy to the District Court, as well as the appointment of Judge Sandra Murphy to Sligo District Court.
Special mention was given to the retirement of Judge Kevin Kilraine, Judge Conal Gibbons and solicitor Anne Hickey. Special tribute was also paid to the late Judge Oliver McGuinness.
The association also paid tribute to the work of Ms O’Boyle in her tenure as president of the Law Society during 2019/2020 in the height of the pandemic and it was agreed that she should be complimented for her “dedication and leadership” shown during a challenging time.
A spokesperson said: “The association looks forward to the year ahead and to more opportunities to engage in person with our colleagues and to welcome new members.”
