Employee reward and recognition was the hot topic at a free business advice event delivered by solicitors Millar McCall Wylie and advisory firm BDO Northern Ireland at Custom House Belfast recently.
With input from experienced employment lawyer David Mitchell, corporate lawyer Abbie Long and BDO tax director Jane Lee, the event set out how the use of tools such as carefully planned bonuses, flexible benefit packages and equity-based plans can help employers stand out from the pack and ultimately retain talent.
Mr Mitchell said: “Attracting the best people and working out how to retain them can be daunting for employers, particularly as employee needs have evolved in recent years and the recruitment pool is increasingly more competitive. We were glad to see a full room of local employers attend this latest advice session on the topic of rewarding and retaining employees, an area that organisations in all sectors can benefit from understanding. Our hope is that our guests left better informed, so they can create a reward system that best works for them.”
Ms Lee added: “This was the second in our ‘Incentivise and Thrive’ tax and legal event series in partnership with Millar McCall Wylie. These gatherings are designed to educate guests on the latest developments from the tax and legal world, as well as offer guidance on topics that can help them be better employers and ultimately more successful.”
