Fisher & Fisher staff given £125 vouchers for flood-hit businesses
Staff at Newry-headquartered Fisher & Fisher Solicitors have been given £125 worth of vouchers for local businesses as a Christmas treat.
The firm said more than 40 staff members will receive vouchers from businesses in the Sugar Island area of Newry who have been impacted by severe flooding.
Jacqueline Malone, director at Fisher & Fisher Solicitors, said: “We had planned, as part of our celebrations, to give our team a treat in the run-up to Christmas.
“We were, however, so lucky not to have been severely impacted by the recent flooding in Newry and other places. We really feel for the businesses hardest hit. We thought, what better way to support them than by encouraging our team to shop local?”
Ronan McGuigan, director, added: “We have more than 40 team members working across our six offices, each with £125 altogether to spend in the outlets, all of whom we have strong business relationships with, developed over many years.
“We are very proud, not only of our team, but of our place in the local business community over the past 125 years. This initiative allows us to show a token of appreciation to both.”
Eamonn Connolly, manager of the Newry Business Improvement District, said: “This is a fantastic initiative by Fisher & Fisher Solicitors Ltd. It really is a win-win for everyone. Fisher & Fisher gets to reward its staff and local businesses recovering from flooding get to benefit from this generosity.
“We really have seen such community spirit in the wake of the flooding in Newry and beyond. Small choices really do make a big difference as Fisher & Fisher could have sourced these vouchers from anywhere.
“If any other businesses are thinking about Christmas gifting and would like to support flood impacted businesses, please do feel free to contact Newry BID and we can support you with implementing this.”
