Fitzgerald welcomes Horgan Review of An Garda Síochána
Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has welcomed the publication of the Garda review conducted by John Horgan, former chair of the Labour Court.
The Review, conducted under the Haddington Road Agreement, deals with the remuneration and conditions of service of gardaí and the appropriate structures and mechanism for resolving matters relating to pay, industrial relations and attendance.
Ms Fitzgerald said: “The recent industrial relations difficulties in An Garda Síochána make it imperative that we find new and better ways of doing our business and the Horgan Review will provide a valuable input into the drafting of the legislation that the Government is committed to enacting to give the Garda Associations statutory access to the Workplace Relations Commission and the Labour Court.”
Ms Fitzgerald also thanked Mr Horgan for the energy and commitment he brought to the Review.
