Flor McCarthy tops poll in Law Society council elections
Clonakilty solicitor Flor McCarthy topped the poll in recent elections to the Council of the Law Society of Ireland.
When the results were officially confirmed at the Law Society’s AGM, Mr McCathy had topped the poll and received more votes than any Council election candidate had before.
Members are elected for a two-year term and are chosen to lead and oversee the solicitors’ profession nationally.
This was Mr McCarthy’s first Council election and Law Society observers commented on his success as an extraordinary achievement, particularly for a first-time candidate.
Speaking on his election, Mr McCarthy said that he was “honoured and delighted to have been chosen by so many of my colleagues to represent our profession on the Council of the Law Society”.
He added: “I look forward to serving both the profession and the public over the course of my term with a view to continually improving the way in which we provide legal services for our clients.”
