Former chief justice Frank Clarke appointed president of Law Reform Commission
Mr Justice Frank Clarke has been appointed as president of the Law Reform Commission for a five-year term.
The former chief justice, who retired last year, succeeds retired Supreme Court judge Ms Justice Mary Laffoy, who was appointed to the role in 2018.
Mr Justice Clarke was called to the Bar in 1973 and to the Inner Bar in 1985. He was appointed to the High Court bench in 2004 and to the Supreme Court in 2012, serving as president of the court from 2017 until his retirement in 2021.
The Law Reform Commission is an independent statutory body with responsibility for keeping the law under review and conducting research with a view to the reform of the law, including the development of law, its codification and the revision and consolidation of statute law.
