Former Limerick solicitor loses appeal over bankruptcy
A former Limerick solicitor has lost an appeal over being adjudged bankrupt.
John Tobin was issued with a bankruptcy summons by the Revenue Commissioners in April 2016 while still practising as a solicitor.
The summons set out the details of seven judgments totalling €405,808 which were obtained against Mr Tobin between September 2011 and January 2015.
Mr Tobin sought to have the summons dismissed, but has now failed in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
A stay has been placed on the bankruptcy adjudication pending further orders, subject to variations requiring Mr Tobin to co-operate with bankruptcy trustee Chris Lehane, The Irish Times reports.
