NI: Fourth man charged in relation to far-right rally
A fourth man is facing hate crime charges in relation to a far-right rally in Belfast last year.
John Richard Banks, a 60-year-old man from Yorkshire, appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting language at the “Northern Ireland Against Terrorism” rally outside Belfast City Hall on 6 August 2017.
His lawyer told the court that Mr Banks, who has confirmed his membership of far-right group Britain First, intends to plead not guilty.
Britain First leader Paul Golding and deputy leader Jayda Fransen, as well as Liverpool-based far-right activist Paul Rimmer, are facing charges in connection with the same rally.
The three are expected to stand trial in April.
