NI: Funeral of respected solicitor Gerry Daly takes place
The funeral of Gerry Daly, managing partner of Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors, took place in Belfast this morning.
Mr Daly, widely respected in the city, passed away at the age of 58 on Friday 30 December.
He is survived by wife Rosie, children Danielle, Tony and Dominique, and grandson Cillian.
Martin Hanna, partner at Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors, told The Irish News: “Gerry was an extremely industrious solicitor and became a partner in the practice at the earliest possible opportunity.
“He never left the firm and had over 41 years of loyal service and has been managing partner since 2000.”
Tributes poured in from across the legal profession this morning. The Law Society of Northern Ireland said it “extends its condolences to his family, friends and colleagues”. In a tweet, The Bar of Northern Ireland said its “prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues”.
Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors have closed their offices today in a mark of respect to Mr Daly and will reopen tomorrow.
