Galway businesswomen open new solicitor firm
A new full service law firm has opened its doors in Galway through a recently-formed partnership between Ciara O’Callaghan and Sharon Lally.
The women have formed O’Callaghan Lally Solicitors to bring together their varied experience, offering advice and support in property sale, purchase and leases; wills and administration of estates; complex conveyancing transactions; family law; commercial property and litigation; employment law; and representation at Professional Misconduct and Fitness to Practice Inquiries for professionals.
The firm also offers assistance to solicitors seeking to engage them for probate and wills consultancy work.
Speaking to Irish Legal News, Ms O’Callaghan highlighted Galway’s successful bid for European Capital of Culture 2020 as evidence of how much is happening in the city, adding: “We see the city growing and our business growing with that.”
Ms O’Callaghan is a BCL graduate of UCD and has over 15 years’ experience as a solicitor in O’Connor Solicitors in Dublin, Higgins Chambers and Flanagan, McInerney and Rooney solicitors.
A regular tutor on the Law Society’s Professional practice courses in Conveyancing, Probate and Commercial Leases since 2004, Ms O’Callaghan has a particular interest in these areas. She has completed an LLM Thesis in NUI Galway on the area of mental capacity and the new Assisted Decision Making Capacity Act and is also a member of the Law Society’s probate administration and trusts committee. In 2014 she was appointed by Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald to the Board of the Property Registration Authority (Land Registry).
Ms Lally is a native of Athenry and holds Bachelor of Corporate law and LLB degrees from UCG (now NUIG).
Having gained corporate experience in RSA and AXA insurance companies, she completed her traineeship in Dublin with Padraig Ferry and Deborah Crowley at Ferrys Solicitors. For the past ten years, Ms Lally has practised with CP Crowley and Co Solicitors. She has a proven record in negotiating with lending institutions and assisting in bankruptcies and corporate work as well as family law. With a keen interest in horses, Ms Lally is a member of the IFA and Irish Thoroughbred Horse Breeders Association.
