Gsoc will function as normal despite missing commissioner
The Garda Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc) will function normally despite the fact one commissioner is absent due to injury, The Irish Times reports.
Commissioner Kieran Fitzgerald reportedly suffered an injury to his spine during a holiday in Spain last month.
He is receiving treatment in Ireland and Gsoc will operate with two commissioners in the meantime.
A spokeswoman for Gsoc said: “It’s happened before and we have functioned normally, as we are doing now.”
The underpinning legislation allows for Gsoc to continue functioning even with only one commissioner.
