NI: Herbert Smith Freehills to join charity swimming fundraiser
Staff at the Belfast office of Herbert Smith Freehills are set to join business leaders, politicians and royalty later this month at a unique fundraising event in aid of Hope For Youth NI.
Shane Boylan and Peter Cunningham will represent the international law firm at the Speedo Charity Swim Gala Dinner next Thursday, where swimmers from teams representing the House of Commons and House of Lords will compete to raise funds for the young people’s charity.
Speaking ahead of the fundraiser, Mr Boylan said: “Peter and I will both join teams including representatives from the Houses of Lords and Commons, globally-famous Speedo swimmers, and swimmers alike to continue a friendly rivalry and generate funds for Northern Ireland-based charity Hope For Youth Northern Ireland. Luckily, having a background as a beach lifeguard, I feel confident that I can pull my weight for my team and do HSF proud in the water.”
Lisa McLaughlin, the firm’s director of alternative legal services for the UK, US & EMEA, added: “We are very proud to be sponsoring this year’s event and to be supporting such a great cause. Since opening our Belfast office over six years ago, we have really enjoyed becoming a part of the local business and wider community.
“Hope For Youth has been making a huge difference in people’s lives for many years now and it’s really important that we do what we can to help young people from across our community.”
Following the swim and presentation of medals, guests will be treated to dinner with some of Northern Ireland’s finest ingredients and a silent auction with prizes from sporting memorabilia to exclusive holidays. All money raised will go to Hope For Youth NI.
