Horizon scandal: KC’s report on 22 Post Office prosecutions published
An expert report by a KC on 22 cases prosecuted by the Post Office has been published by the inquiry into the largest miscarriage of justice in UK history.
Duncan Atkinson KC’s report, Volumes 2 and 2A, have been released by the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. They contain a detailed analysis of 22 cases investigated and prosecuted by the Post Office between 2000 and 2013.
Mr Atkinson was instructed by Sir Wyn Williams to independently review and analyse evidence the inquiry has received in relation to the conduct of criminal prosecutions brought by Post Office Limited.
When he gave evidence in October, Mr Atkinson addressed Volume 1 and 1A of his expert report which looked at the law and practice of investigations and prosecutions between 2000 and 2013, including considering the Post Office’s role as a private prosecutor.
