NI: Implications of Brexit for legal practices explored at Law Society events
The implications of Brexit for legal practices is one of the issues being explored at a series of events taking place throughout Northern Ireland this week.
The events, organised by the Law Society of Northern Ireland, aim to provide local solicitors with up-to-date information on Brexit and a platform to discuss its possible impact on their practices and clients.
Attendees in Newry, Belfast, Enniskillen and Derry are being given the opportunity to hear from speakers including John Campbell, business editor with BBC Northern Ireland; Angela McGowan, director of CBI Northern Ireland; and Stephen Kelly, CEO of Manufacturing NI.
The Law Society’s chief executive officer, David Lavery, will also provide an overview of the ongoing work of the Society on Brexit matters.
Commenting after the Belfast event, Mr Lavery said: “The legal profession will not be immune to the impact of Brexit and the Law Society recognises that its priority must be to provide its members with the necessary information and support to ensure that they continue to provide the best available advice.
“Our number one priority will be to ensure the continuity of legal services on the island of Ireland irrespective of how Brexit turns out.”
