Independent Law Centres Network endorses Gary Lee in Law Society election bid
Solicitor Gary Lee has been endorsed by the Independent Law Centres Network in his bid for election to the Law Society Council.
Mr Lee, managing solicitor at Ballymun Community Law Centre, is competing for one of 15 places on the governing body.
His main areas of legal practice are housing, disability, employment and social welfare law. He has a particular interest in the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act and its implementation.
The Independent Law Centres Network comprises Ballymun Community Law Centre as well as Community Law & Mediation Limerick, Community Law & Mediation Northside, FLAC, the Immigrant Council of Ireland, the Irish Refugee Council, Mercy Law Resource Centre and the Transparency Legal Advice Centre.
Reflecting on their work, Mr Lee said: “Solicitors have a proud tradition of assisting the most vulnerable and marginalised in Irish society, and without their generous support, law centres such as Ballymun could not stay open.”
In addition to his Ballymun role, Mr Lee is also a member of the Law Society’s human rights and equality committee, and chairperson of the Mental Health Tribunals since 2006.
