Indian students win International Negotiation Competition at Maynooth
Students from the National Law School of India have emerged as winners of the 10th annual International Negotiation Competition (INC) organised by ELSA Maynooth in collaboration with ELSA Ireland.
Dhawal Mittsl and Pratyush Singh triumphed over Arima Kaushal and Dhruv Maheshwari of the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in the grand final on 24 March 2024.
A total of 16 teams took part from across the US, India and Ireland, with the final being judged by Chris Chan BL, Arran Dowling-Hussey BL, William Bullman BL and James P. O’Brien BL.
The competition was sponsored by Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology, the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (MII) and City Colleges.
The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) thanked the ELSA Maynooth committee of president Jaymin Laughton, secretary-general Katie Bealin and treasurer Emily O’Reilly for organising the event.
Adrian Karbownik, president of ELSA Ireland, said: “It was an incredible event; everything was well thought-out, down to the last detail. ELSA Maynooth continues to surpass expectations with the International Negotiation Competition year on year.
“It was a pleasure to have adjudicated the winners of the competition and to see that my advice was helpful throughout the rounds and all the way to the final. It was clear that the participants improved significantly as the rounds went on.”
Gráinne Honer, VP of competitions, added: “The standard of the International Negotiation Competition gets better and fiercer every year. The competition could not have been run without the dedication of ELSA Maynooth.
“It is delightful to see the ambition of all of the participants, who come back year after year. I am already looking forward to next year’s competition!”
