NI: #InPictures: Francis Hanna & Co donate £13,000 raised in name of late partner
Belfast firm Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors have raised over £13,000 for cancer charities in memory of the firm’s late partner, Gerry Daly.
The firm presented two cheques for the amount raised at a charity golf day to its chosen charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie.
Partner Martin Hanna said: “After Gerry died a few of us got together and we all agreed that there was no better way to celebrate Gerry’s life by arranging a golf day in his memory.
“We wanted to raise as much money as possible for the two charities that were very close to Gerry’s heart, particularly throughout his illness, MacMillan and Marie Curie.”
He added: “Despite a pretty horrible day for golf we had 160 golfers who played and we had a great crowd who came along in the evening where virtually everyone walked away with a golf or ballot prize. It was a huge success and the perfect way to remember Gerry. Most importantly of all, we raised over £13,000 for Macmillan and Marie Curie.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the event and to those people who made the event possible particularly, Gerry’s wife Rosie, his great friends Joel Taggart and Ian Hanna, and to everyone at Shandon Park Golf Club who were superb on each of the days the event was due to take place.”
