#InPictures: Ms Justice Marie Baker headlines Bar IWD event

Retired Supreme Court judge Ms Justice Marie Baker delivered the keynote address at the Bar of Ireland’s annual International Women’s Day celebration last week.
The event at the King’s Inns also heard from leading voices in advocacy Sinéad Burke, Dr Maeve O’Rourke and Mellissa English SC in a panel discussion chaired by High Court judge Ms Justice Marguerite Bolger.
The panel highlighted the need for continued momentum in advancing equality and resilience within the legal profession and society.
Following the panel discussion, Ms Justice Baker delivered the keynote address, emphasising the evolving role of women in the legal profession and the broader societal imperative to accelerate gender equality.
Speaking after the event, Ms Burke said: “Accelerating action is a commitment to moving beyond awareness and education, to ensure that progress is implemented, resourced, measured and iterated.
“Unprecedented times call for sustained and systemic action, and it requires all of us.”
