Inquest into death of Stephen Geddis on 30 august 1975

The inquest touching upon the death of Stephen Geddis has been listed for hearing commencing on 23 August 2021 before the coroner, His Honour Judge McGurgan. The inquest will be heard at Banbridge Court.

Stephen Geddis, who was 10 years old, died on 30 August 1975 after sustaining a head injury which may have been caused by a plastic baton round discharged by a military patrol on 28 August 1975 in the Albert Street / Cullingtree Road area of Belfast.

This inquest, the second into Stephen Geddis’ death, was directed by the attorney general for Northern Ireland following an application by the Geddis family.

The inquest is one of those included within the Lord Chief Justice’s legacy inquest plan.
