Irish citizens to benefit from US work visa bill
Irish citizens are set to benefit from increased access to the US labour market under a bill passed by the lower house of the US Congress.
The “E-3 Bill”, approved unanimously by the US House of Representatives, allows for Irish citizens to work in the US under the non-immigrant visa category of the E-3 visa, previously reserved only for Australian nationals.
There are currently 10,500 E-3 visas allocated to Australians, but not all are used.
The bipartisan bill, brought by Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner and Democrat Richard Neal, is likely to pass the Senate without problem.
