Irish Independent appoints new legal editor
The Irish Independent has appointed Shane Phelan as its new legal affairs editor, replacing Dearbhail McDonald.
Mr Phelan joined the paper in 2008 and has held the titles of public affairs editor, investigations editor and investigative correspondent. He is also a former crime correspondent for the Irish Daily Mail.
Ms McDonald has been appointed group business editor at INM, which publishes the Irish Independent.
Fionnán Sheahan, editor of the Irish Independent, said: “Shane will apply his experience to this important role in interpreting the courts and justice system for our readers to ensure our legal affairs coverage remains accessible and agenda-setting.”
