Irish solicitor profession grows to record-breaking 10,000
There are more than 10,000 solicitors with certificates to practise in Ireland for the first time ever, according to the Law Society of Ireland.
There was a four per cent increase in the number of people holding practising certificates in 2016.
The largest firms by number of practising solicitors - A&L Goodbody and Arthur Cox - both had 275 practising solicitors at the end of 2016.
The post-Brexit surge of lawyers from England and Wales joining the Irish roll continued to reach 806 new lawyers at the end of the year.
Some of these - including 87 at Magic Cirlce firm Freshfrields Bruckhaus Deringer - have also taken out practising certificates.
